No.1 Florida A&M remained in the top spot of the BCSN Top 5 D1 HBCU Football poll for Week 10. The Rattlers went on the road and defeated Morgan State 24-12 last week to improve to 7-1, 5-0 in conference games. Next up: FAMU returns home to play Delaware State, who lost to North Carolina Central 30-23.
No. 2 Alcorn State moves up one spot after defeating Southern 27-13. The Braves (6-2, 4-0) trailed 6-3 at halftime before outscoring the Jaguars 24-6 in the second half. It was the 9th time in the last 10 contest between the schools. Next up: Alcorn State has a bye week before traveling to Grambling State on November 9.
No. 3 North Carolina A&T had a huge homecoming win against Howard, 64-6, in front of a sellout crowd of over 21,000. Running back Jah-Maine Martin had 7 carries for 138 yards and 3 TDs. The Aggies moved up a spot in the poll and improved to 5-2, 3-1. Next up: Border state showdown against South Carolina State. The winner will put a second conference loss on their opponent and make it extremely tough to have a chance at gaining the Celebration Bowl berth.
No. 4 South Carolina State defeated previously second-ranked Bethune-Cookman 27-19 for the Wildcats’ homecoming. The Bulldogs (5-2, 3-1) scored all their points in the first half behind two touchdowns by Tyrece Nick and a Pick 6 by the defense just before the close end of the first half. They held BCU to 6 points in the second half. Next up: hosting North Carolina A&T.
No. 5 Bethune-Cookman dropped 3 spots in the poll after the home loss to South Carolina State. The Wildcats dropped to 6-2, 4-1 in conference. Next up: BCU is on a bye and return to the field on November 9 traveling to Delaware State.
